Bihar new Scheme Har Ghar Gangajal 2022

Har Ghar Gangajal is a good Scheme for Bihar

हर घर गंगाजल योजना क्या है?
The Har Ghar Gangajal program collects, treats, and stores surplus water from the Ganga River during the monsoon season and delivers it to Rajgir, Gaya and Bodhgaya.

Areas that have long relied on tankers from nearby districts are leaving sources for drinking water during the dry season. Season.

हर घर गंगाजल कार्यक्रम कैसे लागू किया जाएगा?

  • It will be launched under the Jal Jeevan Hariyali Programme of the  State Government. The first phase of the project will be implemented at a cost of  4,Billion.
  • At this stage, large pumps will draw water from the Ganges River from Hatida near Mokamah to supply approximately 7.5 million households in Rajgir, Bodhgaya and Gaya.
  • The collected water is first stored in the Rajgir and Gaya reservoirs and then sent to three sewage treatment plants.
  • Treated water is piped from Hatida. The project will use existing, refurbished and new water connections to reach each beneficiary household.
  • In the second phase of the project, scheduled to start in 2023, Nawada will be supplied with water from the Ganga River.Under this program, each beneficiary receives 135 liters (two large buckets) of Ganges water daily for drinking and domestic use.

Why do we need this scheme?

Rajgir is a rocky and arid area. Unplanned and indiscriminate use of groundwater has depleted underground reservoirs and lowered the water table, affecting water quality in Gaya and Rajgir.

Much of the city’s water supply continues to be supplied by tube wells. This has lowered the water table by 2-4 meters between 2014-15 and 2020-21.

Government agencies in these regions have installed water trucks to supply drinking water to urban areas during the summer months. It is a short-term and unreliable means of addressing water scarcity in these dry regions.

The Har Ghar Gangajal project aims to meet this challenge.

What are the system advantages?

Severe silting of riverbeds, particularly in Mokama, Hatidah, Baru and Lakissaray, and water release from upstream dams in Nepal causing flooding even when monsoon rainfall in Bihar is not exceptionally heavy.

The Har Ghar Gangajal program will help alleviate the difficulties caused by the annual flooding of the banks of the Ganga river while providing a water source for the arid region.

The plan will only be implemented during his four months of the monsoon season when the Ganga River carries excess water.

This ensures that water diversion does not dry up the river, disrupt its natural flow, or alter its flow.

The state government now plans to build 13 additional reservoirs in Gaya and Rajgir to store diverted floodwaters in the near future.
